HGV Mechanic
Job Overview:
We are currently recruiting for the role of a HGV Mechanic with the overall purpose of this role to repair and maintain construction plant, trucks, excavators, trailers, forklifts and much more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out MOT inspection and repairs
- Diagnose and rectify electrical and mechanical faults
- Dismantling and repairing or replacing faulty components
- Reassembling and testing components to ensure they’re working safely
- Checking new equipment before it’s used on site
- Using reports to diagnose and find faults
- Ensure all correct documentation is completed and accurate records maintained
- Ensuring workload is prioritised and deadlines met
- Comply with Health and Safety policy at all times and adapt safe methods of working
- Keep workshop clear and tidy
Essential Criteria:
- At least 2 years’ experience working as a Diesel Mechanic with HGV trucks and trailers
- Chassis and MOT preparation experience
- Experience with diagnostics and fault finding on heavy diesel machinery
- Professional and pro-active approach to your workload with the ability to work in a team
- Ability to work safely as part of a team
- Ability to use own initiative and work unsupervised
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Have a full clean driving license
Desirable Criteria:
- HGV License
- Previous experience of working HGV, basic welding, hydraulic and auto electrical skills
- Good communication skills
