WTE HGV Driver

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver to join our transport team on a full-time,
permanent basis with an immediate start available. This role is suited to a reliable and safety
conscious driver who can carry out general Class 1 driving duties while ensuring Company
vehicles, loads, documentation, and daily checks are managed to a high standard.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional operation of
Company vehicles, supporting the movement of materials as required by the business. This is a
night-shift role and will require flexibility across working hours, routes, and overtime where
operationally required.

Key Responsibilities
• Carry out general HGV Class 1 driving duties as required by the Company.
• Drive Company vehicles in a safe, responsible, and efficient manner at all times
• Complete daily vehicle walk-around checks and report any defects promptly.
• Ensure vehicles are kept clean, tidy, and presentable both inside and outside.
• Ensure all loads are secure at all times using internal cargo straps or additional
strapping where required.
• Comply with all road transport legislation, tachograph rules, working time regulations,
and Company procedures.
• Complete all required paperwork, delivery notes, vehicle check sheets, and transport
documentation accurately.
• Follow Company health, safety, environmental, and operational standards at all times.
• Communicate effectively with Transport, Operations, and other internal departments.
• Represent the Company professionally when dealing with customers, suppliers, and
third parties.
• Work flexibly to support operational requirements, including overtime and weekend
availability where required.
• Report accidents, incidents, delays, vehicle issues, or load concerns immediately to the
relevant manager.

Essential Criteria
• Valid HGV Class 1 licence.
• Minimum 3 years’ HGV driving experience for insurance purposes.
• Valid Driver CPC Card.
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• Strong understanding of safe driving practices and vehicle compliance requirements.
• Ability to carry out and record daily vehicle checks accurately.
• Flexibility to work different hours, night shifts, overtime, and weekends when required.

Desirable Criteria
• Previous experience in waste, recycling, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial transport
environments.
• Experience working night shifts.
• Good geographical knowledge of Northern Ireland, Ireland, and/or UK routes.
• Previous experience using internal cargo straps, load restraint systems, or similar
equipment.

Terms and Conditions

Duration: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: Night work, either Sunday to Thursday or Monday to Friday. Weekend availability may be
required.

Remuneration: Attractive rate of pay with the opportunity to work overtime to enhance pay
levels.
