John Coates has been appointed to lead on policy and external affairs at Re-Gen Waste.

Joseph Doherty, Managing Director, said: “I’m delighted that John has joined us as Policy & External Affairs Manager.

“Recognised as a local authority waste and recycling expert, John will bring his insight from the local government perspective to help us develop the best offer to councils and grow Re-Gen’s presence in the industry.

“He will be responsible for promoting our material recovery facility and commingled recycling collections, and supporting our long-term plans. John will engage with local and Great Britain officials and elected representatives on external lobbying and consultation.”

John joins Re-Gen from the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC) where he was Head of External Affairs. He is a former Vice Chair and Treasurer at LARAC and, having steered the Committee through a period of change, in 2021 he took over as Interim Chief Executive Officer. John has also been an independent consultant and is a former Head of Service Waste with Lincolnshire Council.
